inches = points ÷ 72One inch equals exactly 72 points in the PostScript point used by design software and CSS. Type sizes, leading and margins in print software are measured with this point. Earlier systems, such as the Didot and traditional American points, were slightly different sizes; PostScript fixed the point at exactly 1/72 inch for digital typography.
